Our First Texas Tornado

Last night around 11pm, Luke and I were pulling our blankets and sheets back, ready to dive into bed. Before we got to count sheep however, we heard a very loud tornado siren going off. We noticed the rain and commented that it was coming down hard about 30 minutes prior to this event. We didn't think much of it, and went to bed. I thought it was kind of late for the sirens to be just doing a dry run, and looked outside. No rain, just really quiet. Luke and I looked at each other, and Luke jokingly said "I think there's a tornado". I laughed. He ran inside and turned on the TV. I stopped laughing when I saw on the TV, THREE tornados only blocks from our apartment!! Not only were the sirens going off, but also the sirens spoke "Tornado Warning!" I've never heard that before!! Actual spoken words coming from the sirens. I then went from laughing to fright. I called up my dad and he said a prayer with us. (What else can you do?!?) During this whole time, Liam did not move a muscle. He didn't even flinch!! The boy is a hard sleeper and gets that lovely trait from me. :) We watched the news intently and saw that the three twisters combined into one large one!! It was scary!! Fortunately for us, the enlarged tornato began moving away from us. The sirens stopped, and we watched it wizz away to the north.

Needless to say our evening was not boring in the least!!!

Oh My Gosh! What a way to welcome you to Texas! Glad it stayed away from your apartment and that you all were safe.
